The truth about what is “billing-problem@amazon.com”
The email address billing-problem@amazon.com is being used by cyber criminals to try to get people to give their credit card details. I’m sure at date you are currently asking about this email because you haven’t made any payments and yet you receive one telling you the transaction has been completed or there has been some problem and some of the details about you in the email are not correct whilst some may be correct. Here is the truth of the whole matter. This is a trick that has been used by many scammers in the past years.
What they want to do is simply get your credit card details. If you follow the instructions on the email they send you make sure you don’t get tricked into giving them you PayPal credentials or bank details or whatever Payment method they may have to offer. Once you do that they will steal your credit card details and use those to charge your card money and lately it has been getting hard to get PayPal to send you a refund after being scammed because of the advancement of the tricks scammers have been using. Below are some of the scam signs to help you out.
Scam signs
1.When you know you haven’t made any such transactions or have not attempted to then you can be sure it has nothing to do with you.
2. When the email has a name that is not yours
3. When the email address has a credit card number or last digits of the credit card that do not belong to you
One thing that may worry people is the fact that the email address is one that looks legit. But here is what they do, the scammers practice what is known as email spoofing so that the header of the email has the legit email address whilst the real email address that you will reply to is that of the scammers. Another thing is where they got your email address of details at times they may buy these from other websites you may have left your details which are not trustworthy and at times from social media accounts.
Conclusion
When you get an email like this one and you feel that it doesn’t seem right all you have to do is ignore the email and delete it and nothing will happen. If you try to follow what they will tell you to do you will end up losing a lot of money or having your card hacked.
