How the scam works.
The scam at times tell you to do different things. In this case they are telling you to call the number or a different phone number. Whilst others believe that they then steal your details that way I have noticed this isn’t exactly how they benefit from it.
They tell you to call and the numbers you are made to call are premium rate numbers. Have you ever heard of these before? These are numbers that have an extra charge to the caller so are expensive to call. When you call the service provider who in this case will be the scammed will get paid for a service he provided which is nothing and the cost is all on you.
So they have a charge that is more expensive than an ordinary call as they are also being paid for a call they received. So you will realise that there isn’t any help once you call the number it may be on voice mail and speaking to you in a language you may not understand.
The scammers may also tell you to click a long in the message and the link will lead you to some site that is phishy or make you complete some surveys which is not really common with these text messages and they will want from that.
What to do
Once you get the message do not click any links on it or call them. They obviously will benefit from you one way or the other if you do what they tell you to. It is a fake message and well known.
